Dublin Graded League 2008 The first round of the Dublin Graded league for 2008 took place at Irishtown Stadium on a dry but cold night on Wednesday, 16/4/08. Round 1 of this league traditionally kicks off the track and field season and a number of MSB athletes used the occasion to test their fitness coming out of their winter training and cross country seasons. First off on the night was Ruth Carson who finished 4th in the Women’s 100m A race. She was followed into action by Joe Barry and new recruit, Neil Cullen in the Men’s B 100m race. Joe finished 2nd in a PB equalling 12.02 with Neil finishing 4th. Neil was again in action in what was a 400m debut in the B race but had to give way to one of his new club mates 16 year old Cian Christie who led home a Metro 1 – 2. This was Cian’s first venture into senior athletics and you can’t get more impressive than coming away with a win. In the Men’s A 400m race Michael O’Sullivan made what is now for him a rare visit to this event but still performed well enough to finish 4th. Then it was on to the 1500m where both men and women’s sections of the club were represented with Kate O’Neill running very well in the Women’s A race to take 2nd place. ‘Master’ athlete Dave Carroll also performed excellently to take 3rd in the Men’s C race. A copy of all the results are available
There will be a further 7 rounds of the league and club athletes are encouraged to participate in these races which are all graded, giving everyone the opportunity of competing against people of similar ability. A full list of the programme of graded events can be found |
